On the afternoon of September 7, Jeroen Prinsen, QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Executive Director for Asia-Pacific, and Franck Zhang, QS China Business Director, visited SUFE. Xia Jijun, Assistant to the President, met with the delegation for discussions.

Professor Xia welcomed the delegation to SUFE and introduced the University’s performance in the QS World University Rankings, highlighting SUFE’s strengths as a finance and economics-focused university, particularly in disciplinary excellence and industry impact. He also outlined SUFE’s Intelligent Finance and Economics strategy in response to the transformation driven by artificial intelligence, as well as the University’s efforts to establish new educational platforms, including theDishui Lake Advanced Finance Institute, the School of Digital Economics, and the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and to launch an AI-powered financial large language model. He noted that SUFE is actively preparing to establish the Alliance for Intelligent Business and Economicsand hopes to draw on QS’s experience in developing the Responsible AI Consortium. He also introduced SUFE’s plans to expand its international student population and further strengthen the Study at SUFE brand.

Prinsen thanked SUFE for its warm reception and spoke highly of the University’s academic strengths in finance and economics. He noted that finance and economics-focused universities commonly face challenges in comprehensive rankings, but can enhance their overall international reputation by leveraging the strengths of their leading disciplines. Citing Loughborough University in the UK as an example of how excellence in sports science has contributed to its global recognition, he suggested that SUFE place greater emphasis on showcasing the strength of its world-leading disciplines, including accounting and finance, and make greater use of platforms such as the QS Global Summit and QS China Summit to tell the SUFE story.
The two sides subsequently exchanged views on enhancing international reputation, establishing the Alliance for Intelligent Business and Economics, and optimizing international student recruitment strategies.
Representatives from the International Cultural Exchange School, the College of Business, the International Office and the Department of Development Planningaccompanied the delegation.
